 The aim of this workshop is to discuss the issues that influence the e
 ffective implementation of KM initiatives, drawing on the experiences 
 of pioneer organizations, and on the knowledge of international and re
 gional experts. Engaging interdisciplinary, applied and theoretical mi
 nds on best practices and lessons learnt relevant to Africa, is a majo
 r goal of the workshop. Researchers, practitioners, private and public
  institutions, and civil society organizations concerned with knowledg
 e and its use are encouraged to participate.\n \nPapers and proposals
  for panel discussions are particularly invited on KM applications in 
 the following five themes: Education, Health, Environment, Business an
 d Governance. We are also interested in ideas and success stories on K
 M utilization in development themes such as poverty eradication and we
 alth generation, gender equality and empowerment, technology transfer 
 and innovation, small and medium enterprises, institutional developmen
 t and capacity building. Contributions addressing areas potently relat
 ed to KM such as organizational learning, change management, intellect
 ual capital and ethics, are welcome. Papers/proposals on KM support fo
 r indigenous knowledge systems will receive special consideration.\n\n
