 portant role in improving agricultural productivity in the South. In o
 rder to become more competitive, farmers and rural enterprises need up
 -to-date information on the agro-supply chain including input supply, 
 production technology, farm management, and market opportunities. Howe
 ver, there is no clear cut solution for farmers on how to use ICT – 
 including web 2.0 and social media - in their work. The wide variation
  in agro-ecological, social and cultural conditions of farming communi
 ties lead to very specific information needs. How to meet these needs?
