DESCRIPTION:Course Description\nGender mainstreaming is a strategy to 
 achieve gender equality. This strategy aims at making visible the diff
 erent impacts on or impact of women and men in a given context. It inv
 olves the recognition that the gender division of labor and its associ
 ated norms, values and ideologies are defined by a complex of power re
 lations which tend to accord to women lesser political voice, social/c
 ultural value, and access to and control over economic resources. This
  course aims to improve participants’ ability to deal with special i
 nterventions for gender equality and mainstreaming of gender equality 
 when designing, implementing and monitoring development interventions.
 \n\nThe course covers practical strategies and skills for mainstreamin
 g gender – including the use of gender planning frameworks; addressi
 ng gender issues in logical frameworks and developing gender policies.
  Critical analysis of current theory and practice is encouraged throug
 hout the course.\n \nCourse Objectives\nBy the end of the course, par
 ticipants will be able to:\n\nUnderstand the key gender concepts, them
 es and gender mainstreaming processes;\nUnderstand gender mainstreamin
 g as a strategy to achieve gender equality;\nDevelop awareness of the 
 challenges to gender mainstreaming and build competency to address the
 se challenges;\nExplain and differentiate the various frameworks for g
 ender analysis as means of gender mainstreaming;\nStrengthen the capac
 ity of relevant actors to apply gender mainstreaming effectively in th
 eir organizations or institutions\n\n \nCourse Benefits\nAfter comple
 tion of this course, participants should have acquired the skills to c
 ontribute towards the implementation of gender mainstreaming in their 
 organisations, workplace and communities.\n \nTarget Audience:\nThis 
 course is designed for women and men in governments, donor agencies an
 d NGOs, non-profits, students, as well as individual consultants and t
 rainers, who have the responsibility of mainstreaming gender in develo
 pment organisations and in national policy processes. Also, not left o
 ut is managers, executives, and other staff working on gender issues.\
 n\nEntry Requirement:\nParticipants must have a current e-mail account
 , regular access to and general familiarity with the internet and mobi
 le phones.\n\nCourse Fee:\nThe course fee is US$300. There is a limite
 d amount of partial scholarships available for this course for applica
 nts from developing countries and newly independent states, based on f
