SUMMARY:Knowledge Management Beyond Borders
DESCRIPTION:Topic: Knowledge Management Beyond Borders - Globalization
and Cultural Identity\n \nInternationalization is already quite prev
alent for the knowledge management community.\nHowever, cross-national
knowledge transfer is no easy task. Companies are already confronted
with a number of critical issues when introducing knowledge management
  at a national level. The introduction\nof a cross-national knowledge
transfer is a far more complex process\nthan many believe. Global comp
anies therefore require solutions for knowledge transfer to avoid auta
rkic and closed business units. \nDistance is not the key problem. Th
e language barrier, however, can cause a lot of communication problems
between employees. Organizations can overcome this barrier. But for a
ll that, there are many other problems such as the cultural background
of employees that may disrupt\nthe mutual understanding. Different co
ntinents, different customs or the greater the distance between employ
ees, the bigger the difference?\nWhat does all that mean for knowledge
managers?\nThere are already several articles in which authors place
cultural aspects in communication in the centre of discussion. As the
main focus of this call for papers shall be on a cross-national perspe
ctive, we kindly invite knowledge management experts from outside Germ
any to\nparticipate in this call and contribute to this discussion. Th
erefore, please be aware: all submissions must be in English.\nWhat ex
perience have you made? Which requirements will be most relevant to us
?  What solutions do you know?\nThe Community of Knowledge welcomes a
cademic articles from a theoretical\nas well as from a practical persp
ective. Articles should clearly\nspecify a knowledge management proble
m arising from cultural\ndifferences.\n\nFor more information visit ht
