SUMMARY:Knowledge for Climate Action: a Manifesto for Change
DESCRIPTION:Climate information was once the domain of modellers and s
cientists. Nowadays, as the world wakes up to the extent to which our
lives, jobs and environment will be affected by climate change, everyo
ne is becoming a climate decision-maker in one way or another. From go
vernment policy-makers and industry chiefs to everyday consumers and v
oters, information is going to be needed to make the right decisions o
n how to address climate change. Where will it come from and how will
people make sense of the growing ocean of climate information being pr
oduced every year? This is where knowledge brokers fit in, bridging th
e gap between producers and users of knowledge and tailoring it so it
is relevant and useable.\nThe Climate Knowledge Brokers (CKB) Group co
nsists of more than 100 international agencies and programmes providin
g climate information. At this event, it will launch a ‘Manifesto’
to call for joined up action to meet the massive climate knowledge ch
allenges ahead in the post-Paris world. The ‘Manifesto’ will set o
ut seven key principles for how climate knowledge brokers can have gre
ater impact through collaboration and the use of open data. CKB are ca
lling for more organisations to collaborate to avoid overlap and meet
information needs effectively – only then can knowledge be turned in
to action.\nDuring the writing process for the Manifesto, about 80 int
erviews have been conducted with climate knowledge brokers and users o
f climate knowledge. Some of these interviews have been published here
.\nThis event will also be live streamed. Click here to register and t
