SUMMARY:International short course: Integrated pest management and foo
 d safety
DESCRIPTION:Public and private standards for pesticide residues have b
 ecome stricter than ever before. Pesticide residues exceeding the maxi
 mum residue limits can hamper trade between upcoming economies and the
  EU. Implementation of Integrated Pest Management is necessary to mini
 mize pesticide applications. But while there are plentiful technical s
 olutions, the application of Integrated Pest Management is still a str
 uggle for many farmers.\n \nThis course is aimed at creating mechanis
 ms that will support Integrated Pest Management though looking at pest
 icides-related policies, the role of the various stakeholders and inno
 vative (technical) solutions. Participants will enhance their ability 
 to identify and solve problems in Integrated Pest Management and food 
 safety. It entails a mix of lectures, discussions, group work, excursi
 ons and fieldwork. Meeting colleagues from other countries with simila
 r interests leads to mutual learning.\n\nThe basic prerequisite for pa
 rticipation in this course is active interest and professional experie
 nce in this field. Participants should be proficient in English, and h
 ave at least a BSc degree or an equivalent academic qualification.\n\n
