SUMMARY:Child Protection in Emergencies
DESCRIPTION:Children, unlike adults, are affected uniquely by conflict
 s and emergencies, however; they could facilitate a quick and lasting 
 recovery of the community. Children find themselves in vulnerable situ
 ations during emergencies and bear the greatest brunt of disasters bec
 ause of their vulnerability. As such, these children are exposed to di
 splacement, separation, discrimination, forced labor, sexual and econo
 mic exploitation, trafficking and conflicts.  Child protection measur
 es have to be undertaken from the onset of an emergency to ensure thei
 r wellbeing is guarded. To achieve this, professionals working with ch
 ildren have a duty to prevent violence and abuse and to enable childre
 n to access protection services through government and community syste
 ms.\nThis training focus is on how children in an emergency setting ca
 n be protected besides receiving the standard humanitarian package of 
 food, water, shelter, medicines, and sanitation. Further to the physic
 al needs that children receive, they need psychosocial assistance\nDur
 ation:\n5 days\nCost\nThe individual cost for the training workshop is
  USD 999 for individual participants and USD 850 for groups above 10 p
 articipants exclusive of 16% VAT. This covers the training fee, resour
 ce materials, and conference package. Participants will be responsible
  for their own travel expenses and arrangements, such as airport trans
 fers (and visa application, where necessary), food and accommodation, 
 health/accident insurance, and other personal expenses.\nIntended Atte
 ndees\nThe target groups are humanitarian and development profession
 als, social workers, and teachers responsible for the child protection
  and education of children during conflict and emergencies.\nAim\nThis
  course aims to broaden and deepen the understanding of child protecti
 on professionals on safeguarding child and risk factors that predispos
 e children to vulnerability.\nObjectives\nAt the end of this training 
 you will be able to:\n\nExpand knowledge on principles and approaches 
 to child protection programming\nMonitor and report grave violations a
 nd serious protection concerns for children\nDesign child protection s
 ystems and strengthen children’s resilience in emergencies\nIdentify
